The NYC police responded to 234,988 domestic violence incidents in New York City during 2008.1
During 2008 the City&#8217;s Domestic Violence Hotline answered 134,903 calls.2
The New York City Police Department recorded 70 family-related homicides during 2008. In 71% of these cases, no prior police report had been filed.3
