“Dignity does not come from avenging insults, especially from violence that can never be justified. It comes from taking responsibility and advancing our common humanity.”

—Hillary Rodham Clinton

This week’s election results have many of us feeling scared about the future and worried for our rights, health care, and services. We’ve seen protest and discord throughout the country, heard about racist, xenophobic, misogynist and homophobic/transphobic behavior surfacing more than ever in schools and the workplace.

The Center was founded on the principle that everyone – regardless of gender, race, and sexual orientation – deserves a life free of violence and abuse. Our capacity to love and care for one another is so much stronger than our capacity for hate. We must be vigilant upstanders now; speaking out and standing up against hate.

The Center’s work to keep all people safe from domestic violence continues. We continue to grow stronger knowing you support this mission – to end domestic violence in our communities.

Sincerely,

Judith Kahan
CEO, Center Against Domestic Violence
